Meet Tess Gordon, the Northern Rivers based creative mum-of-two, business owner, model, and social media content creator. Tess fuses her love for connecting with people to catalyst her businesses between creativity, make-up artistry and coffee shop owner.

Tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Tess, I am a mum of two gorgeous human beings that are the light of my life! I am also a business owner, model and social media content creator.
I am passionate about fashion, beauty, health and fitness. I own and run Tess Gordon Makeup Artistry in Casuarina where I transform women and empower them through the use of makeup and share how different trends can be incorporated into their everyday looks.
I also own Kartel Espresso Coffee Shop in Cabarita Beach, which is a plus, because i'm a huge lover of coffee. I love the social side of my work and enjoy being involved in the community, raising money and awareness for great causes! I am constantly seeking out fresh new ideas and connecting with other like-minded people to create empowering content for clients of big and small fashion brands.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU AND HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK AND BEING A MUM OF TWO?
A typical day for me as a mother, business woman and content creator can be quite busy but highly rewarding. In the morning I typically get up around 5 to get my exercise in and then get home to get my children ready for the day.
Then when they are off to school I embark on my workday, which might include a shoot for a modelling job, filming for a client, engaging in a conference call for my business, working at Kartel, doing makeup or creating content for my social media. At the end of the day I make sure to spend quality time with my family before getting a good night's rest.
You’ve paved a career as a successful make-up artist, how did your career in this industry begin?
My career as a makeup artist began with a lot of passion and hard work. I started out by doing makeup for friends and family, and eventually developed a following and built a career around it. I studied all the different techniques and products available, and with practice and commitment, I was able to perfect my craft. I set up an online presence and would find digital opportunities as they arose. Thankfully, I have been able to build an enthusiastic following and an enjoyable career out of makeup!

1. Start with a glowing base: Use a hydrating foundation and a matte bronzer to create a sun-kissed and dewy base that will make you look like you just stepped off the beach.
2. Add a fun pop of colour: Take your look up a notch with a vibrant blush or lip colour to really make your look pop!
3. Include shimmery eyeshadow: Finally, add a bit of shimmer to your look with a light, sparkling eyeshadow. This will give you a fresh, luminous glow and will help you channel the warm vibes of summer.

What inspired you to begin the creative journey into content creation?
I was inspired to start creating content after realising the vast potential of social media to connect people from all different backgrounds and to showcase different perspectives and stories. I wanted to use my creativity to create powerful content that could reach a wide audience and inspire others to express themselves through their own personal style whilst showing them what is out on the market. I am passionate about celebrating unique and diverse styles, and I hope to continue creating content that resonates with a my audience and encourages their creative expression.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
I would describe my personal style as minimal and timeless. I like to mix classic pieces with modern trends to create simple, chic, and effortless looks. My favourite looks are ones that are versatile and can be worn for a variety of occasions. I also love to incorporate bold and vibrant colours into my looks for a whimsical and playful feel.

When you’re not working, how do you spend your time?
When I'm not working, I love to spend my time relaxing outdoors. I enjoy boxing, pilates, surfing and long beach walks, basically just spending time in nature with friends and family. Most of my spare time is devoted to my two children playing, watching movies, sports and beach days. I'm also a bit of a foodie and love checking out local restaurants for new flavours and I love to cook and spoil anyone who comes to visit!
